What is MS?
MS, Multiple Sclerosis, is a chronic disease that attacks the central nervous system by destroying myelin, the fatty tissue that surrounds and protects nerve fibers. Once damaged, the myelin forms scar tissue (sclerosis), giving the disease its name. Damage to the myelin or the nerve fibers underneath can distort or cut off nerve impulses, producing a variety of symptoms ranging from mild (numbness in the limbs) to severe (paralysis or loss of vision). MS is an unpredictable, often disabling, disease, and symptoms and severity vary from one person to another. Advances in research are producing new treatments for those suffering from MS, giving hope the disease may one day be eradicated.

Heat Issues For MS Patients
MS patients may experience a worsening of their symptoms when subjected to hot or humid conditions, but the effect is normally temporary. Symptoms may also be affected should a patient suffer a fever, get hot due to exercise or even sunbathing, or take a very hot bath or shower. It takes as little as one quarter to one half of a degree of change in core body temperature to magnify the symptoms of MS, so patients should be careful not to subject themselves to a great deal of heat stress.

There are several options for MS patients dealing with the heat, many of which are very basic–staying in an air-conditioned environment when it’s hot and humid outside, wearing lightweight, “breathable” clothing, drinking cool fluids like ice water, eating Popsicles, etc.

But there are times when you simply don’t want to stay indoors, and that’s where Black Ice comes in. Simply put, Black Ice helps remove some of the heat load from your body, making life just a little easier.

That’s easy for us to say, so we don’t mind when you ask, “Yeah, but does it really help–I mean really?”

Hello Black Ice Cooling.

I just received your Black Ice Cooling collar this week and got to use it for the first time this weekend.  I was diagnosed as having MS (Multiple Sclerosis) 4 years ago and every summer I struggle with my symptoms in the heat.  One half a degree of body temp will effect a person with MS where their symptoms will start to come back.  As my body becomes over heated my numbness in my hands and feet come back along with my blurred vision and fatigue.

I just wanted you to know I was able to push mow the entire back yard with the help of my Black Ice Cooling collar.  After, I was feeling so good the wife asked if I could cut down the bush up front which I was happy to do.

It was amazing how you can feel the cool but it is not cold.  I am sold and just wanted to thank you for producing a product that truly works and is helping people such as myself deal with the heat.

I guess instead of a nap we will head for the boat and enjoy the rest of the day.

I am sending this letter because I recently purchased one of your neck wraps with two packs. I don’t usually write letters to praise a product, but after using your product I just had to write. I have Multiple Sclerosis and the heat bothers me tremendously. I bought this because I was hoping it would last longer than the numerous other cooling products I had preciously purchased. This product is awesome. I went to the Cleveland Zoo a couple weeks ago for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s family day and it was very hot. I took along a small cooler with the neck coolers, ice and some bottled water. It was so hot that I had to change the Black Ice refill quite a few times, but every time I swapped packs, the one in the cooler was ready to go. My other neck coolers wouldn’t have lasted 10 minutes especially with the humidity so high. I was so impressed with your product that I have been telling everyone how great it is. I am also contacting numerous MS groups to recommend that they try and endorse your product . . . I am so thrilled to have found your product and will continue to sing your praises to anyone who will listen.
