Maximum Benefit–Minimum Hassle

Black Ice–Welcome to 21st Century CoolTherapy™
A radical departure from standard cold therapy products, Black Ice CoolTherapy Packs provide all the therapeutic benefits of traditional cold therapy–but none of the dangerous side effects associated with prehistoric products based on ice or frozen gels. Black Ice CoolTherapy Packs produce a regulated output of 52°F–a comfortable temperature proven safe and effective for continuous cold therapy. Simple, convenient to use, and with a design maximized for portability, Black Ice offers benefits that rival those found in sophisticated hospital-based pump systems–but at a fraction of the cost.

Primum Non Nocere–First, Do No Harm.
This Latin phrase is taught as a fundamental principle to every medical student, and it serves to remind medical professionals to first consider the harm they may do as they attempt to cure a patient.

Safety is a prime concern at Black Ice. That’s why Black Ice offers effective CoolTherapy at a safe and comfortable temperature. Unlike ice or gel-based products, Black Ice CoolTherapy Packs produce a regulated output of 52°F–a temperature that has proven safe for direct skin contact and uninterrupted 24-hour use.

More Effective
What makes Black Ice CoolTherapy more effective than traditional cold therapy products like ice or gels? Controlled Temperature CoolTherapy. With CTC, Black Ice delivers a safely regulated output of 52°F for up to 1.5 hours per recharge. Used as directed, this temperature offers all the benefits of traditional cold therapy–reduced swelling, drug-free pain relief, reduced muscle spasms and quicker recovery–without the risk of permanent damage possible with the skin-freezing output produced by ice and gels..

Get Back In The Game
What makes Black Ice CoolTherapy more effective than traditional cold therapy products like ice or gels? Controlled Temperature CoolTherapy. With CTC, Black Ice delivers a safely regulated output of 52°F for up to 1.5 hours per recharge. Used as directed, this temperature offers all the benefits of traditional cold therapy–reduced swelling, drug-free pain relief, reduced muscle spasms and quicker recovery–without the risk of permanent damage possible with the skin-freezing output produced by ice and gels.

Look Forward To Comfortable Relief
You’ve probably used ice, frozen gels or a bag of frozen peas on an injury, so you know just how painful using products like that can be. That’s not just bad for your skin–it’s bad because you may not use cold therapy for as long as you should, or, even worse, you may not use it at all. Clearly, that’s not going to benefit your recovery.

Black Ice CoolTherapy Packs produce a temperature that’s effective, safe and comfortable enough to use 24/7, so instead of avoiding cold therapy, you will look forward to the relief Black Ice CoolTherapy can bring. That means you’ll use CoolTherapy more often–which is likely to accelerate your rate of recovery. Less pain, more convenience and a quicker recovery–That’s not just cool–That’s very cool.

Reduced Swelling
Cold therapy reduces swelling by constricting blood vessels and squeezing fluids from the injured area. Cold therapy also restricts the flow of additional fluids which may otherwise stress injured tissue. But over-constriction of blood vessels can cause permanent tissue damage, so steps must be taken to avoid overexposure to low temperatures.

With Controlled Temperature CoolTherapy,™ Black Ice automatically regulates the amount of vasoconstriction that occurs–protecting fragile cells while still offering the benefits of reduced blood flow. The result is reduced swelling, less secondary cellular damage and quicker recovery.

No Pain . . . No Pain!
One of the many benefits of cold therapy is drug-free analgesia (pain relief). As tissue temperature cools, neural impulses are dampened. This dulls the sensation of pain. But unlike ice and gels–which are simply too cold to safely produce controlled analgesia–Black Ice regulates the amount of CoolTherapy applied to the injury. The result is safe, effective and drug-free pain relief that can be applied for as long as you need it.

Deep Muscle Penetration
When you have a deep muscle injury, ice and gels are even less useful. Why? Because human skin is an excellent insulator. That’s good when you’re trying to stay warm, but since that insulation keeps the cold therapy from reaching the targeted area, it takes extra time for effective penetration–time you simply don’t have with ice or frozen gels.

Since Black Ice CoolTherapy Packs produce a regulated temperature output of 52°F, they can be used continuously, allowing the CoolTherapy the time required to penetrate more deeply into dense muscle tissue– just like expensive hospital-based pump systems.

Helps Reduce Muscle Spasms
Cold therapy is commonly used to help calm muscle spasms because it reduces conduction velocity along nerve fibers. This also helps reduce pain. You may have tried ice or a frozen gels to calm a muscle spasm, but the pain associated with using either of these products may have prevented you from using them long enough to provide any true relief. Because Black Ice CoolTherapy Packs produce a temperature output that is safe and comfortable enough for direct and extended contact with your skin, you can use them to help calm muscle spasms for as long as you feel you need to.

Burns And Stings And Bruises, Oh, My!
Black Ice works for more than just muscle injuries. Use CoolTherapy to reduce swelling and pain due to minor bumps and stings*, and because CoolTherapy helps control blood flow to damaged tissue, it can help reduce bruising as well.

*In the case of acute allergic reaction to a sting-consult immediate medical attention.

If you’ve been unfortunate enough to get too close to a hot iron or stove, you know how excruciating even the slightest burn can be. The level of analgesia Black Ice CoolTherapy Packs offer can help reduce the pain associated with minor burns, and since Black Ice can be applied for an extended period, it can continuously hold that pain at bay until your body’s natural recovery processes can take over.

Chronic Pain and Tight Muscles
If you suffer from chronic pain or swelling due to tendonitis, bursitis, or just plain overuse, Black Ice CoolTherapy can offer long-term relief that is both safe and effective. With a regulated temperature output of 52°F, Black Ice CoolTherapy can also help sooth sore muscles after a heavy workout at the gym or if you’ve just come off the court or the links. Black Ice CoolTherapy can even help relieve chronic or acute neck or lower back pain.

Minimum Hassle
With ice or frozen gels you get hassles: timed application, dripping bags, and, of course, pain and potential permanent injury. That’s an awful lot of baggage to drag around when you just want to recover from an injury.

Black Ice CoolTherapy offers all of the benefits of traditional cold therapy–without all those prehistoric hassles. With a safely regulated output of 52°F, used as directed, you can use Black Ice directly on your skin, continuously, for as long as you need to. That means no egg timers and no worrying about falling asleep and waking up with frostbite. It also means no wet towels or wash cloth barriers are needed to protect your skin from the freezing temperatures produced by ice, frozen gels or even frozen peas–Black Ice CoolTherapy simply removes those hassles automatically.

And speaking of hassles, how about trashing those leaky, sloppy, dripping wet ice bags? Thanks to the regulated temperature output of Black Ice, condensation is reduced substantially, so dripping bags are a thing of the past. All the benefits of traditional cold therapy–but none of the prehistoric hassles. How cool is that?

How To Use Black Ice CoolTherapy
Black Ice CoolTherapy Packs are much more convenient to use than a bag of ice. Simply detach the CoolTherapy Packs from the wrap and place in a freezer, refrigerator or ice water. Once charged, reattach the packs to the wrap and place the assembly so the CoolTherapy Packs are centered over the target area (pack surface against your skin). Adjust wrap for a comfortable fit. Recharge CoolTherapy packs as required.

Custom-Contour Individual Packs
Once charged, Black Ice isn’t hard like ice, and this physical trait allows you to custom-contour certain CoolTherapy Packs to fit your anatomy more closely. If charged in a freezer or ice water, simply “break” your pack by gently bending it. Inside the pack, the solid molecular alloy will snap into two pieces (or even four if you’d like)–giving you another convenient option for fitting the pack to your individual needs. When charged in a refrigerator, Black Ice MCP Modular CoolTherapy Packs will be soft enough to mold to just about any contour you require.

Recharging
Black Ice CoolTherapy Packs can be recharged in any of three convenient ways:

Freezer*

  • Recharges in approx. 1.5 hr.
  • Maximum cooling duration

Refrigerator*

  • Recharges in approx. 3 hr.
  • Maximum pliability

Ice water*

  • Quickest recharge (approx 1. 5 hr.)
  • Maximum recharge speed

24/7 Relief Is At Your Finger Tips
Store your Black Ice CoolTherapy Packs in the freezer or refrigerator for continuous, year-round 24/7 access to instant CoolTherapy.

Note: CoolTherapy Packs should be placed directly against the skin for maximum effectiveness. The packs do not have to be directly against the skin, but any barrier (shirt, etc.) will reduce the effectiveness of the CoolTherapy System.

For those sensitive to cold: If the CoolTherapy Packs seem too cold directly out of the freezer. Let them sit out for a few minutes. This will allow the packs to rise to operating temperature.

Easy to maintain:
To clean, just hand wash in warm, soapy water (dish washing liquid works best). Air dry. Do not machine wash or machine dry CoolTherapy Packs. DO NOT PLACE BLACK ICE COOLTHERAPY PACKS IN A MICROWAVE OVEN.

*Actual cooling duration and recharge time dependent upon user activity level, discharged pack temperature and ambient temperature.
